Nannaku Prematho - Movie Review

Cast: NTR, Rakul Preeth Singh, Jagapathi Babu, Rajendra Prasad and others
Directed by : Sukumar
Produced by : B.V.S.N. Prasad
Banner : Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra
Music : Devi Sri Prasad

Story :

Ramesh Chandra Prasad (Rajendra Prasad) has a sad flash back story which deals with Krishna Murthy (Jagapati Babu) and his wicked brain. Aged Ramesh Chandra Prasad who is suffering with Pancreatic Retina Carcinoma disease seeks for revenge. He tells his sons Rajeev Kanakala, Avasarala Srinivas and Abhiram (NTR) to take revenge before his death. How Abhi Ram and his brothers takes revenge is rest of the story.

Performance :

Well, NTR is very stylish with his fresh looks in the film, His first look poster got amazing response from his fans and other movie goers. His tonned body, his hair style, his beard and costumes filled life in the character. His dialogue diction is perfect. There are no hard hitting fights and no thigh slapping moments but there are hard hitting human emotions. It is a fresh and different film in NTR's career, almost all films in his career are mass films but this one is pure multiplex film. It's a dare attempt in NTR's career and it is worth it.

Rakul Preet Singh is not just there for Songs and few love making scenes, She got some scope to perform, She did almost full length role in this film. Chemistry between the lead pair is decent. There are two lip-lock scenes.

Jagapthi Babu played villain role and he got equal important role as hero. He is one of the highlight character for this film. He handled his character in style. Rajendra Prasad did father to NTR and his character is limited. Whole movie revolves around him but got very few scenes for him. Madhu bala did a cameo, she did two scenes. Amit made his presence felt. Others did as required.

Technicians :

Devi Sri Prasad's music is one of the major highlights for this film. Songs are good on screen, NTR's rocking dance and DSP's melodies music will make you tap your feet. Cinematography is another asset, Locations are in sync with the scenes. Movie was shot completely in foreign locations. Dialogues are decent. Screenplay is very different, we should use our brains while watching the film. Direction by Sukumar is overwhelming. Movie deals with human emotions and Sukumar made us to connect emotionally.

Analysis :

There seems to b a reason why NTR has chosen Nannaku Prematho be his 25th movie as hero - he wanted to come out from his comfort zone of mass movies and be known for stylish performance too. Sukumar has come up with a simple story but he has focused on presenting NTR in ultra new look and has also changed his acting style.

Plot wise, the story is very simple one. The theme is revenge. Basic plot reminds us of Jagapathi Babu starrer Athade Oka Sainyam (2004) but what makes this film different is Sukumar’s classy presentation and NTR’s delightful performance. To a simple revenge drama, Sukumar has added an emotional angle. Unlike other mass hero movies, revenge drama is not centered on killing the villain or bloodshed. Here it is all about mind games, the cat and mouse game between two intelligent persons - the protagonist and the antagonist.

The movie is NTR’s show all the way, his controlled performance, his makeover, his suaveness are the strength. NTR has given absolutely marvelous performance, very restrained and stylish. This is his best appearance so far.

Overall, Nannaku Prematho is fresh film in NTR's career. Watch this film with low expectations and you will definitely like this film. NTR performance, Jagapthi Babu Performance, Locations, Songs, background score, NTR's dance, Rakul's glamour are major highlight for this film. Go and watch it.

Verdict : A simple classy revenge drama : Must, watch it.

Rating : 3.5/5..
