TS govt plans to ensure water supply to all cities
After the successful grounding of the Mission Bhagiratha, the State government was diverting its attention to ensure water supply to all urban households in the cities. If everything goes according to the plan, Karimnagar will have 24x7 water supply soon and will be the first municipal corporation in the State to achieve the feat. Karimnagar is also in the race for Smart City and has prepared an action plan with a whopping Rs 1,684 crore.
Municipal Administration & Urban Development Secretary Navin Mittal today held a meeting with the officials of municipal department and reviewed the Karimnagar drinking water project at the Secretariat today. Municipal Administration Commissioner Dr T K Sridevi, Karimnagar Municipal Commissioner Shashank, Engineer-in-Chief Dhan Singh and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Mittal outlined the roadmap for the future and steps to be taken to kick start the program. He said the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) should prepare the preliminary rapid assessment report, which would help initiate preparation of Detailed Project Report. The ASCI officials observed that an understanding of the existing network was needed. The meeting also has discussed implementation of the project on public-private partnership model.
Stating that a separate detailed project report would be required for storm water drains in the city, Mittal asked the Public Health Engineer-in-chief of to take services of retired public health engineers to assist the ASCI in preparing the rapid assessment study of the city. He also suggested that certain smart features like e-billing, online grievance redressal systems can also be taken up under theSmart City project.
