Naga Vaishnavi, who was kidnapped in broad daylight two days ago in Vijayawada, resurfaces as dead, killed by her own kin. It was a double blow for the family as her father, liquor baron, realtor and politician Palagani Prabhakar, shocked by the death suffered a massive stroke, went into coma and died on Tuesday morning.
The 10-year-old girl’s gruesome murder is creating shock waves across the state as the greed and bitter rivalry for family property prevailed over humanity in the end. After serious investigation, police could trace the place in the Autonagar area of Guntur town to stumble on the completely charred remains of Vaishnavi.
The breakthrough was achieved after Vijayawada police commissioner grilled Prabhakar in his office for over two hours during which the father pointed to the possibility of the involvement of his first wife’s brother. In a swift follow-up of arrests and interrogation, the accused spilled the beans.
Vaishnavi was dumped in the boiler of a sick and reclusive industrial unit burning her body beyond recognition. A team of forensic experts are right now conducting a post-mortem on the remains, a few bones, at the site.
As soon as the news of her murder broke out on Monday evening, Prabhakar collapsed on suffering a cardiac arrest. He was treated in the ICCU of the Help Hospital in Vijayawada but with little effect. After suffering a second stroke in the night, Prabhakar slipped into coma and breathed last at around 8.55 am on Tuesday.
