“The Andhra Pradesh High Court has finally put its foot down on a new, disturbing trend of destruction that is fast spreading its tentacles among the Telugu-speaking folks around the world.”
(It’s a lengthy monologue for sure. But if you are actually trying to encapsulate the modern breed of Telugu news channels, the intro deserves to be this big!)
“The HC, hearing a writ petition, asked all the Telugu news channels to stop airing programmes containing scenes of violence and vulgarity. The interim order covered a wide variety of DONT’s: from Neraalu Ghoraalu to Crime Watch, vulgarity to obscenity, visuals of dead bodies, violence against women and children, provocative speeches, visuals of goons destroying public/ private properties, suicide visuals….”, the list is endless!
(Now, let’s look at the health of TV viewing in hypothesis and find out what exactly the court directions would have meant for everyone…)
TAILS
“As a consequence of the High Court advisory on the news channel content, spiritual and religious channels like Bhathi TV and Sanskrithi TV have witnessed a sudden spurt and a meteoric rise in their TRP ratings. Even the ‘God’-forsaken SVBC TV is reported to be uphill and shooting through the roof.
A beaming TTD Chairman Adikesavulu Naidu was seen patting his back and thumping his fat belly over the mind-blowing swing in fortunes for their disastrous venture that, everyone thought, sank like the Titanic.”
In the melee, the general public health among the TV news addicts also reported a steady look-up triggering hopes of a new, decent world order unfolding…”
NOW THE WINNER…
“Third-rated channels like Maha TV, Studio-N and ABN-Andhra Jyothi died an instant death – it was euthanasia of sorts! Virtually on the death bed ever since their birth, these channels were surviving on the ‘sleazy’ feed.”
From the much-vaunted High Definition, Sakshi TV went into the spiritual mode and is watched only by sycophantic Congress ruffians to catch a glimpse of their GOD, YSR, on top of the screen!”
Bhakti TV CEO Raghu is calling the shots at NTV as its new lynchpin and all its editorial manpower now sweats it out to bring out the best ‘spice’ in spirituality.”
Less is better about TV5 and its awful woes. Already licking its wounds from the Reliance-YSR fiasco, this most unreliable TV network finds the going tough. The court delivering a double-whammy, it vanished without a trace, just the way it did with many of its ‘foot-in-the-mouth’ investigative masterpieces!”
This leaves with the ‘Leader of the Rogue Pack’, TV9… As the father and pioneer of shameless TV journalism in Telugu, it’s a sad demise for Ravi Prakash and his cronies. As is his wont, Ravi Prakash himself took the wheel and tried to turn the TRUTH around to steady his ship. His vociferous clarion calls to end corruption and casteist mindset failed to sway the devout audiences, firmly glued to the religious stuff.
(TAILPIECE: The High Court behaviour irritated the media fraternity to no end. Angry custodians of media felt the court order is more than a mouthful! With just one stroke, the court robs the channels of all their lifelines!!!! The highly deplorable judiciary action is more harmful to the Telugu electronic media than they are to the audiences!)
Moral of the story: SPARE THE MEDIA, AND SPOIL THE HEALTH!!! |
