Tabu, cooling her heels with not many acting offers in her kitty, is reportedly toying with the idea of directing a film. This is what is making them sit up.

The grapevine has it that Tabu has signed a film as director in his desperate bid to stay afloat in Bollywood. The smart cat is however keeping all the info about this venture under tight wraps for now. She finds this a very wise move at a time when her acting career is not really keeping her going.

She has no directors really ‘looking upto her’ these days, except Nandita Das who signed this Hyderabadi cutie for her next directorial venture. For many, she is an actress past her prime despite her award-winning acting skills.

It makes Tabu aka Tabassum feel jittery about her future in the industry and this is where the idea sprang up, a suggestion that primarily came from some of her close friends.

Tabu, a national award winner for best actress, was the quintessential element of success in bold and unconventional films like Hu Tu Tu, Asthitva, Chandni Bar and Maachis. Cheeni Kum, in which she plays a very young lover of a very old Amitabh Bacchan, was her last film.

Wearing a director’s cap is not everybody’s cup of tea but knowing the kind of actress that she is, let’s hope this would be one more avenue to make her presence felt.
