One more Indian, a Telugu at that, falls to the perversion of the Western mind and its psychic behaviour. Prof. Gopi Podilla, Chairman of Biology Department at Alabama University in the US, was among the three academicians shot dead on Friday evening.
Amy Bishop, a woman researcher and instructor, opened indiscriminate fire at Gopi and his colleagues when they were huddled in a faculty meeting. Associated professors Mariah Davis and Adriel Johnson also succumbed to the bullet injuries in the incident.
Gopi (42) was a native of Guntur district. The condition of two of the three injured in the incident is also stated to be critical. Amy Bishop was immediately arrested and charged with murder. She is likely to face death once the charges are reached to a logical conclusion in the court.
Amy reportedly told the investigators that she resorted to this crime in a fit of rage as she failed to get her tenure extended on two occasions.
