T-factor: Hyderabad loses IPL matches
It’s now official! The Indian Premier League has actually developed cold feet about hosting the IPL matches in Hyderabad due to the ongoing Telangana agitation. Not really convinced about normalcy returning by the time the league takes off, the governing body of the league decided to shift the matches to Mumbai and Nagpur.
This is a big blow for cricket and cricket lovers of Hyderabad even as cricket becomes the latest casualty of the pressure tactics being adopted by the pro-Telangana forces for a separate state. In fact, IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi had already announced the shifting of the inaugural match from Hyderabad taking cognizance of the struggle.
This might come as a blessing in disguise for the home team Deccan Chargers since it never won a match at the Uppal Rajiv Gandhi Stadium Uppal in Hyderabad. This ground is proving to be a big jinx for the host teams. It was not just the Chargers, in fact every host team at various levels including India senior team could come out winners at this ground.
