Despite assurances from political parties and the JAC, attacks on Telugu film shootings in the name of Telangana are continuing unabated. In the latest attack on Tuesday, the cast and crew of Krishnudu’s latest film was attacked at their shooting location at Vanasthali Hills near Nagole.

Krishnudu, the Vinayakudu-fame, is playing the lead role in this yet-to-be-titled film. This is the second such incident in less than a week when pro-Telangana activists disrupted their shooting.

According to sources from within the film unit, around 75 miscreants stormed the place where the crew was busy shooting some scenes and went on a rampage. Ironically, a group of policemen posted there as protection for the unit, did nothing to quell the mob and instead merely watched the goons ransacking the whole place. It was also learnt that they were blissfully ignorant of the ruckus in their fancy to be photographed on the occasion.

The agitators, raising ‘Jai Telangana’ slogans, tried to snatch valuable equipment including the cameras but an alert staff of the unit managed to take them away to safety. Later, they accosted hero Krishnudu and a few other members of the cast. They were learnt to have finally relented after Krishnudu joined the chorus with a ‘Jai Telangana’.

The miscreants did not carry any flags and it could not be ascertained if they are from any political party. The production staff were amazed about how the ‘agitators’ could get a wind of their shooting since the shooting spot, Vanasthali Hills, was remotely placed and at a far-flung area inside Nagole.

Earlier, the same film unit came under attack during their shooting near Vikarabad of Rangareddy district. Considering that it was a very young unit, both in terms of its cast and production side, its shooting has become an easy-pick for people to kick up dust in the guise of Telangana.

The film is being produced by young NRIs from Australia, Nagesh and Praveen Reddy. New face Deepika is cast opposite Krishnudu in the film that also features Subba Raju in an important role.
