Has Kavitha, the laadli daughter of KCR and president of Telangana Jana Jagruthi, demanded extortion money from the producers of Adurs to allow its smooth run? These rumours were rife at the time of the film’s release a few weeks ago.
Now the issue once again begs for some attention with the producer himself coming out into the open and stopping just short of saying this. TDP’s legislator from Gudivada and producer of Jr NTR-starrer Adurs, Kodali Nani was at his belligerent best on Sunday. Raising the bogey of Samaikhyandhra, he blasted every politician in sight, right from KCR to Rosaiah.
Most surprisingly, he even ridiculed the Telangana forces for failing to stop his film in their region. Around the same time, he even gave an account of how “KCR’s daughter Kavitha, her husband Anil and her brother KTR threatened him over phone to stop releasing the movie in Telangana.”
Nani says he was repeatedly warned by the three of dire consequences if he “didn’t fall in line”, but refused to elaborate what that line meant for both the sides. This once again provided wings to the rumours that Kavitha and a few others had demanded money from the producers before Adurs release to allow a hassle-free run for the film. Grapevine had it then that Kavitha demanded an immediate payment of a whopping Rs 50 lakhs towards this ‘favour’.
A case was later booked against Kavitha for inciting trouble for the filmmakers. She however managed to get relief from the High Court.
