Touching on Kodali Nani’s tirade against Telangana leaders, we only expressed premonitions in the morning of a possible fresh trouble for Adurs. And the premonitions are proving right. Angry with Nani’s provocative comments, Telangana supporters stalled the movie screening at several places in the region.
A group of TRS and other pro-Telangana activists stormed the Mukunda Theatre in Mahboobabad of Warangal district and disrupted the Adurs screening. Later, they burnt the effigy of Nani and shouted slogans against his comments. Even the Warangal town exhibitors association reacted sharply and decided not to run the film till further notice.
The film is also facing trouble in Karimnagar district with activists stalling shows at Godavarikhani and Korutla. The film is reported to be disrupted even in Adilabad district.
TRS MLA Harish Rao demanded an immediate apology from Nani and cautioned him against such provocative behaviour in future. He wanted the film industry to respond to this.
Meanwhile, the film chamber is holding an emergency meeting in the evening to assess the situation arising out of Nani’s behaviour. The chamber is likely to ask Nani to tender his explanation for his act. Many in the industry are also surprised at the sudden twist that Nani himself has chosen to give to his film.
As we predicted in the morning, right from Nani’s utterances till the disruption to the film across Telangana, everything so far is going as per the script. Don’t be shocked further if you see Nani approaching the High Court once again and Naidu immediately blasting the state government for a law and order failure. At the end of the day, it’s all in the game (read politics)!
